On the left is my ‘new truck’, a 2001 F250 XLT 4x4 diesel. On the right, the old truck, a 2000 F150 XLT 4x4.
That F150 has been a pretty great truck. My brother bought it in 2006, when it already had 195k miles on it...Enterprise rent a car used it as a service vehicle, so it had a ton of miles but was well kept. My brother kept it until he died in 2008, and my dad and I decided we would keep it on the road as long as it was feasible.
A junkyard engine, remanufactured transmission, and a bunch of other things have been thrown at it over the last few years...but at this point it’s better as transportation than as a truck, so it’s time to let it go.
My brother’s best friend is buying the truck, so that’s pretty great. He’s taking it home tomorrow.
I also picked up my new truck, and I think I did pretty well on it. It runs and drives great, the interior is mint, everything on it works including the A/C and 4 wheel drive. The bed is solid (not the wheel wells, of course) but the supports are junk, so that’s a project...I saw where a guy replaced all of them for under $100. Hell, it even has keyless entry.
Oh, and as a fun added bonus, it came with a flash tuner. Apparently the performance tune on it is good for 110hp and 200 ft lbs, for a total of 360hp and 705ft lbs. Big diesel engines are pretty great.

Well done, all around. Glad the white truck is still “in the family,” more or less.

Me too. I’d much rather he have it than some Craigslist jerk, and I sold it to him for so cheap that if it only makes it until November when it’s due for inspection I’ll be comfortable he got his money’s worth.

If it's for free it's for me. At least now you have something to drive while the Alfa and Jag are doing Alfa and Jag things respectively.
